THE TABLETTING PROCESS

1. Filling

When filling the bore of the die with granule it is obviously essential that exactly the right amount is used to give the correct weight and dosage for the tablet.

Care must also be taken to ensure that the granule being fed into the die is kept free-flowing : particularly where difficult materials are being used. If the machine is allowed to run with no granule severe damage can be caused by the punches meeting in the die.

1 & 2. The lower punch is allowed to descend to its lowest point and the bore of the die filled completely with powder.

3. The lower punch is then raised to a predetermined point so that excess

4. The powder is then leveled by passing under a blade.

5. This ensure that the bore of the die is filled with as exact volume of the material to be used, and the next stage can begin.
